Floe beta testing

We’re planning a beta release of our new iPhone game, Floe, on Friday, 2010-06-18. Would you like to join in and help us?

You’ll just need to play the game and tell us what you think about it. In particular, which things you found easy or difficult, enjoyable or frustrating, and of course any suggestions you have for improvements. You might even find a bug or two.

Here’s what you need to do to sign up.

  1. Get the BetaAssist app for your iPhone.
  2. Run it and touch the button at the top-right to create an e-mail.
  3. Send the message to floe-beta@otterly.com.

We’ll be in touch with instructions for how to download and install the Floe beta as soon as it’s ready.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you!

BETA TESTING IS NOW CLOSED. Thank you all for your help!

I tried to do this on my iPod, but it’s so old I only have OS 2.0, and BetaAssist requires OS 3.0. Boo.

rptb1 tells me that BetaAssist collects your device’s UDID, model, device name, and OS version in an e-mail to send to floe-beta@otterly.com.

Without BetaAssist you can just send an e-mail by hand with the relevant info in. The tricky one is UDID (thanks to Corduroy):

Plug in your iPod and go to iTunes, select your device, select the Summary tab. Clicking on the Serial Number will flip it to showing the devices UDID. Press ⌘-C and this will magically by copied into the clipboard.

Paste that into an e-mail along with the device type (iPod, iPhone, iPad), the OS version (displayed just above the UDID in iTunes), the device name, and your blood group and send it to floe-beta@otterly.com

The beta notice has gone out by email, but it’s not too late to sign up if you’d like to join in.
